The "UAE Innovates 2021", organized in all the UAE emirates on 21 - 27 February, kicked off on Sunday, with vast participation from federal and local government entities, academic institutions, private sector companies and various society segments. This annual national event celebrates innovation and success stories in the UAE, and highlighgts the achievements and innovative projects in all fields.

The annual event, aiming to spread the culture of innovation and enhance community participation in designing and developing future initiatives, comes this year in conjunction with the preparations to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the founding of the UAE.

The activities of "UAE Innovates 2021" spin around honoring the winners of the "UAE Innovates" award, launched by the Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Government Innovation (MBRCGI), in line with the directives of the UAE government to support innovation and enable its  application. In its first session, the award celebrates the innovations that contributed to combating the COVID-19 pandemic. Award winners will be announced within the activities of the "UAE Innovates 2021" conference, which will be held on the "Expo 2020" website on Thursday, 25th February, 2021.

The award includes four main categories that celebrate government innovations, whose application contributed to supporting business continuity, the national economy, education and other sectors.  The four categories are: Novelty in Innovation, Replicable Innovation, Most Impactful Innovation, in addition to the Fastest Implemented Innovation.

The "UAE Innovates 2021" virtual conference will be organized following the hybrid model, i.e. combining live sessions and virtual events on the digital platform of the Expo 2020. The conference focuses on creative shifts and innovative economy, and highlights the most prominent governments that made use of cutting-edge innovations to achieve quantum leaps.

“UAE Innovates 2021” witnesses the launch of initiatives aiming at enhancing community awareness on the importance of innovation and its impact on the lives and future of individuals, developing creative thinking based on experimenting and testing ideas, finding innovative solutions to challenges, and creating a better future for next generations.

The events include a number of physical and virtual initiatives to attract a large number of participants. Abu Dhabi organizes 118 events, Dubai 60 events, Ras Al Khaimah more than 60 events, Ajman organizes a number of initiatives and workshops, the local entities in Fujairah organize more than 30 events, and the local entites in Umm Al Quwain organize around 20 innovation events.

The "UAE Innovates" events follow all the precautionary measures set by the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) to curb the spread of coronavirus pandemic, including social distancing, wearing masks, and providing sterilization tools to protect all participants and society members.
