Honoring the Winners of the Uzbek mGovAward

Under the patronage of His Excellency Abdulla Aripov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and with the participation of His Excellency Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs, the Uzbek government organized a virtual awarding ceremony to honor the winners of the first mGovAward. The award came as one of the outcomes of the strategic partnership between the UAE and Uzbekistan in the field of government modernization.

The ceremony was attended by HE Ohood AlRoumi, Minister of State for Government Development and the Future, HE Abdullah Nasser Lootah, Director General of the UAE Prime Minister’s Office, HE Mohammed bin Taliah, UAE Chief of Government Services, HE Saeed Matar Al Qemzi, UAE Ambassador to Uzbekistan, HE Bakhtur Ibrahimov, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the UAE, and a host of officials and joint taskforce members.

HE Abdulla Aripov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, praised the achievements of the strategic partnership between the two countries and hailed the UAE’s support for government modernization efforts in Uzbekistan. HE highlighted the important role of the joint taskforce, which achieved remarkable results that contributed to promoting positive change in government work and improving services quality, thus enhancing overall wellbeing.

HE Aripov congratulated the winners and called upon them to enhance their participation in designing government services and find innovative solutions to challenges using their ideas, initiatives and projects that contribute to building a better future for the current and future generations. HE praised university students who participated in the competition, and the teams of experts and officials from the two friendly countries. He stressed that their efforts encouraged university students to innovate and develop ideas that would improve government services and positively impact society members.

HE Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, stated that under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the UAE is keen to boost cooperation with friendly countries, and share its successful experience in government modernization with them for the benefit of their societies.

HE pointed out that investing in youth is a strategic step for governments seeking to achieve leadership and build a better future. He pinpointed that the creative ideas and applications developed by Uzbek university students shed lights on their distinguished skills and talents.

Roboteach team won the first place, with a prize of USD 50,000, for their application for teaching English language “remotely”. The application includes lessons, training exercises and tests, which start at an elementary level and goes up gradually.  This approach facilitates the user’s development of English language skills.

The Imam Bukhari’s "Seven Pirs" application came in second place, with a prize of USD 30,000. The application provides tourists with all the information they need to visit holy place in the country, and helps people who prefer to travel alone by furnishing all the information they need to complete their trips smoothly without having to hire a tour guide or join tourist groups.

The Sahia team won third place, with a prize of USD 20,000, for their application “Sahia” aiming to help people of determination achieve independence with the help of AI and machine learning technologies. In addition, the application was proved beneficial to healthy people.
